Pond Island – TelEm Group management and staff are full of praise and pride of female colleagues Kathyria Connor and Estanlina Holaman – both were this week honored by Government’s Women’s Desk as role models for young girls and women in the St. Maarten community.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, March 8, 2022, Kathyria and Estanlina were recognized amongst a group of nine women in the St. Maarten community who are breaking down barriers in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. (STEM).

Both were singled out for their work in Technology, with Kathyria making strides as a Network Operation Technician II in the TelEm Group of companies, while Estanlina is making her way as a Network Designer in the same company.

According to the Women’s Desk, more and more women are entering the field of science, however, with other career fields remaining untapped by female applicants, it is essential that girls and women on St. Maarten are encouraged to follow these new paths so that they too can play pivotal roles in the country’s future development.

The Women’s Desk is especially pleased that the two TelEm Group honorees have joined their fellow honorees in the making of a short video encouraging girls and other women to pursue a career in STEM. The video is scheduled for launch online, on the Community Development, Family & Humanitarian Affairs (CDFHA) platform and also on various government social media platforms. It will also be shared with various high school guidance counseling units.

TelEm Group, CEO, Mr. Kendall Dupersoy, has congratulated Ms. Connor and Ms. Holaman for their own personal achievements and also for making their company and colleagues proud.

“The fact that Ms. Connor and Ms. Holaman are recognized as female role models in the field of Telecommunications bodes well for our industry. I want to express the very best to both not only on International Women’s Day, but for every day they continue to make positive contributions in the workplace as an example for other girls and women in our community,” said Mr. Dupersoy.

TelEm Group Manager, Human Resources & Development, Shadira Lont and TelEm Group Residential Manager, Marketing & Sales also congratulated both TelEm Group honorees for their proud achievements and thanked the Women’s Desk for announcing and promoting the initiative. Both said the presentation ceremonies for the two TelEm Group employees  earlier this week was well received in a friendly and fun gathering, with other female colleagues to commemorate International Women’s Day.
